Falls are the number one cause of the hip fractures and the leading reason of fatal and non-fatal injuries in older adults. An older adult falls every second of every day from slipping in the bathtub, slipping on the ice road, losing their balance.
There are different risk factors that can make an older adult susceptible to falling, including lower body weakness, difficulty with walking, impaired balance, impaired vision, medicines and home hazards. As Malvern’s older adult community continues to grow and live longer, it is important for us to provide the necessary information and resources to help prevent older adult falls.
At Potential Physical Therapy, we offer Fall Prevention program that focuses on preventing falls improving balance through regular practice of exercises that improves strength and flexibility and balance.
